Speaking at the UN General Assembly, the Pakistani envoy said that Pakistan has reaffirmed its opposition to adding new permanent members in an enlarged the UNSC. He said India has waged twenty wars since its independence and fomented terrorism and instability across the region, especially against Pakistan.

Munir Akram also mentioned that Islamabad has clear and ample evidence of India's state sponsored terrorism and resorts to daily artillery and small arms fire, targeting innocent civilians on Pakistan side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the reform of the UNSC must be part of a broader revival of the multilateral system, with a balance between the Council and the General Assembly.
