HARARE (92 News) – An Indian cricketer has on Sunday been arrested for allegedly raping a woman during the team’s current tour of Zimbabwe. The player, whose identity is yet to be revealed, reportedly appeared in court facing rape charges. The rape is alleged to have taken place on Friday evening on the eve of India’s opening Twenty20 International against the hosts at Harare Sports Club. The hotel at which the visiting team is staying was turned upside down by the officials of country’s intelligence and police service amid a desperate attempt by the Asian nation’s representative to stop the player’s arrest. According to Zimbabwean media, the victim was invited by a group of cricketers from the touring Asian nation’s national team for drinks before she was abused. It was also claimed that the victim could have been drugged before being abused by the cricketer.
