Two Pakistani soldiers martyred in firing along LoC

RAWLAKOT (92 News) – Two armed forces soldiers embraced martyrdom, while six civilians sustained injuries during an exchange of fire on the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday. In a statement released, the ISPR said that the exchange of fire took place on LoC in Bhimber, hotspring, kel, and Lipa sectors. Indian troops also resorted to unprovoked firing on Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Battal and Samani sector near Rawlakot. The exchange of fire which started at 0230 hrs after midnight continued till 0800 hrs. India border security forces used all types of heavy weapons, including mortar and artillery. Pakistani soldiers “befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing” — implying they returned fire— along the border, near the villages of Bhimber, Kel and Lipa. Tension between the nuclear arch rivals has been high since an Indian crackdown on innocent Kashmiris following the killing by security forces of Burhan Wani, in July. The incident comes a day after Pakistan said India will “disintegrate” when Kashmir gains independence. India is trying to isolate Pakistan diplomatically after a recent militant attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed 18 Indian soldiers. New Delhi blames a Pakistan-based militant group for the attack. Pakistan denies that.
