Indian troops again resort to unprovoked shelling at LoC

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – In another ceasefire violation, Indian troops launched firing and shelling on areas along the Line of Control (LoC) at Iftikhar Abad sector sector. In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistani soldiers “befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing” — implying they returned fire— along the border and silenced the Indian guns at Iftikhar Abad sector sector. Earlier, two armed forces soldiers embraced martyrdom, while six civilians sustained injuries during an exchange of fire on the Line of Control (LoC). Indian troops also resorted to unprovoked firing on Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Battal and Samani sector near Rawlakot, Bhimber, hotspring, kel, and Lipa sectors. The exchange of fire which started at 0230 hrs after midnight continued till 0800 hrs. India border security forces used all types of heavy weapons, including mortar and artillery. Tensions between the Pakistan and India has been high since an Indian crackdown on dissent in Kashmir following the killing by security forces of Burhan Wani, in July. India is trying to isolate Pakistan diplomatically after a recent militant attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed 18 Indian soldiers. New Delhi blames a Pakistan-based militant group for the attack. Pakistan denies that.
