NEW DELHI (92 News) – India’s opposition party National Congress on Monday promised to open talks with Pakistan if it was voted to power after the Lok Sabha elections. According to the Indian media, releasing the manifesto, Nationalist Congress Party General Secretary DP Tripathi said that talks with Pakistan are important and relevant in the current circumstances. “The two countries were discussing issues between them during the Vietnam War,” the party said. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has promised Minimum Income Guarantee scheme, Nyay.   The scheme promises a financial assistance of Rs 72,000 per annum nearly to 25 crore poor people in the country if the party is voted to power in the Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi also said that the Nyay scheme would be the final assault on poverty. “We don’t want back door talks. At one side our PM wishes Pakistan PM secretly and his approach in India is complete, his double standard is caught red-handed. Talks are very important for a healthy relationship with our neighbours,” Congress leader Nawab Malik said. “Russia is our old friend, we have helped each other. However, in the current situation, it going diverted little towards China and Pakistan. We will increase export and import on a high level exchange so that Russia once again becomes our strongest fried and make sure it goes away from China and Pakistan,” he said. On foreign policy, the manifesto said, “We will continue to be responsive to the newly elected Sheikh Hasina Government. We will work to move Russia away from getting too close to China and Pakistan by frequent high level exchanges.” Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had said that India cannot have a dialogue with Pakistan.
