Inflation in Pakistan rises to its highest level of five-year
KARACHI (92 News) – The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Monday that the inflation in Pakistan reached to its highest level for five years in March 2019.
According to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), it showed that Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation General increased by 9.41 per cent on year-on-year basis in March, 2019 as compared to an increase of 8.2 per cent in the previous month and 3.2 per cent in March 2018.
On month-on-month basis, it increased by 1.4 per cent in March 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.6 per cent in the previous month and an increase of 0.3 per cent in corresponding month i.e. March 2018.

With this increase, the petrol prices have been increased from the existing Rs92.88 to Rs98.88/litre. Prices of High Speed Diesel (HSD), which is widely used in transport and agriculture sector, have been increased to Rs117.43 per litre from the earlier Rs111.43 a litre.
The Kerosene oil price has been increased from earlier Rs86.31 to Rs89.31 per litre. This fuel is used for cooking purposes, especially in remote areas where LPG or pipeline gas is not available. The Light Diesel Oil (LDO) price has been increased from earlier Rs77.53 to Rs80.53 per litre. This fuel is mainly used for industrial purposes.

Earlier today, after hike in petroleum products prices, the federal government has also increased price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LNG).
According to the notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), one day after the government announced to raise petroleum product prices, LNG price has been increased by Rs3.5 per kilogramme. Following this hike, price of LNG per kg has become Rs133.5.
Domestic cylinder price has witnessed increase of Rs41, while price of commercial cylinder has grown by Rs201. The federal government on Sunday announced to raise petrol price by six rupees a litre.
Govt increases petrol, diesel prices by Rs6 per litre
The government on Sunday increased the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs6 per litre each. Meanwhile, the prices of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) have been increased by Rs3 a litre for April 2019 effective from Monday (today) till midnight of April 30.
