Inquiry to be held against those responsible for PIA losses: CJP

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday remarked that an inquiry will be conducted against those responsible for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) losses. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar heard suo moto case regarding PIA's privatization. Dr Farrukh Saleem presented a forensic audit report of PIA before the Supreme Court on Thursday. The report disclosed that the PIA has suffered losses worth 360 billion rupees over the last ten years. "We have to determine the people those responsible for the PIA losses. Without taking responsibility, the country will not progress," the CJP remarked during the hearing. The CJP also said that the matter would be referred either to NAB or a commission would be constituted to hold people accountability for current state of affairs of the national flag carrier. The chief justice said for how long PIA will remain a liability on the national exchequer. The court restrained PIA from making new appointments except those of pilots and changing logo of the carrier.
