ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has announced that the 11th and 12th exams will be taken only in elective subjects.

The education minister told during a media briefing after the meeting of Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference under his chair in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Shafqat Mahmood said that all the board examinations will be held after July 10. "All the boards have been asked to start the examinations after July 10. The 9th and 10th examinations will be taken from only four subjects. Math will be included. The exam will be taken from the O Level students in July. "Now you can't get a grade without exams," he added.

The education minister said that students of 10th and ninth across the country would be assessed on the basis of elective subjects and math this year. He said that the students would not be awarded grades without attempting examinations.

The minister explained that only four exams and math for 9th and 10th will be conducted — biology, computer science, physics, and chemistry.

"No student would be awarded grades without attempting examinations this year, he added. If we do not conduct the exams, then students will not even employ minimum efforts to study," he added.

Classes 11th and 12th will be assessed on only elective subjects, said Mehmood. "This decision will make the examination process easier for students."

The minister said the exams of elective subjects were being conducted as students aspiring to opt for a selected field could be assessed on the basis of their elective subjects.

Shafqat Mahmood said boards were preparing to conduct exams from June 24, and now, to facilitate students, we have asked them to begin examinations after July 10.

Earlier, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood will preside over a meeting of the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference to make decision about the boars examinations.

The forum will also decide on reopening of educational institutions on June 7.

Meanwhile in a tweet, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that by the grace of Allah I have fully recovered. "My latest two tests are negative. Going back to work today. The mild symptoms and quick recovery are without a doubt because of the vaccination . Clearly vaccines work and are the best defence against this horrible disease," he maintained.
