Interior minister apologises for blocking social media services

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed has apologized to the masses for blocking social media services across Pakistan.

In his video message, the minister said that the social media services were suspended for preventing religious groups from gathering for protests after the Friday prayers.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) restored the social media services after banning it from 11am to 3pm. The social media sites, including Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Twitter and Telegram, remained suspended.

The PTA spokesperson said that the Apps have been shut on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry.
