International Day of Charity observed across Pakistan

LAHORE (92 News) – The International Day of Charity is being observed on Wednesday across Pakistan. The prime purpose of observing the day is to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charity related activities all over the world. Many personalities devoted their lives to serve humanity in Pakistan. Abdul Sattar Edhi was an award-winning philanthropist and humanitarian. Known in Pakistan as "Angel of Mercy" and "Pakistan's Father Teresa" for his social work that also won international acclaim, Edhi established a welfare foundation almost six decades ago that he oversaw together with his wife, Bilquis Edhi. On the other hand, Dr Ruth Pfau known as Pakistan’s ‘Mother Teresa’ also served the humanity for all his life. The woman who has, single-handedly, turned the tide of leprosy in Pakistan and won the gratitude and personal attentions of people ranging from military rulers to elected ministers to the general public. Every year the objective to celebrate this day on September 5 is to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charity related activities all over the world. On the occasion, Social activist Sarim Barni said that his aim of life to help those people who left behind in the society for making balance their lives as per society. Faisal Edhi, Son of Abdul Sattar Edhi, said that Pakistan is included at 10th number in the charity work from world.
