IRSA suggests Govt to redirect all development funds for building new water reservoirs

ISLAMABAD (92 News) –The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Monday suggested the Federal Government to cease all development funds for five years and redirect them for building new water reservoirs. IRSA chairman said construction of 22 million acre-feet of water reservoirs was need of the hour to save Pakistan from becoming barren. According to IRSA data, 140.5 million acre-feet water is available in the country, however, water reservoirs were only 14 million acre-feet. 130.5 million acre-feet water is being wasted while 22 million acre-feet water is daily dumped in sea, IRSA data added.
