Islamabad IG briefs Asad Qaiser over Irfan Siddiqui’s arrest

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Inspector General (IG) of Police Islamabad Aamir Zulfiqar on Monday briefed National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser about the matter of arrest and handcuffing former adviser to prime minister, Irfan Siddiqui. The Islamabad IG briefed during the meeting with the NA speaker at the Parliament House. It is pertinent to mention here that Qaiser had summoned IG to brief him about the matter of arrests and handcuffing Irfan Siddiqui. Asad Qaiser expressed regret over handcuffing Irfan Siddiqui during the meeting. Aamir Zulfiqar said the investigation into the matter was underway. “Every citizen has equal right of delivery of justice”, Qaiser said. The meeting was also attended by the interior minister, chief commissioner and MNA Ali Nawaz Awan.
PM seeks report over incident happened with Irfan Siddiqui
Earlier today, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the prime minister has sought a report about the incident happened with Columnist Irfan Siddiqui. In a tweet, she said decision will be taken in light of the facts, and the responsible will be punished. She also said the premier has expressed displeasure over the incident and took its notice. She said Irfan Siddiqui had to suffer due to the lacunas in the system for which PM Khan is determined to remove. The special assistant said the PML-N leaders overplayed the incident to get political oxygen from it. Irfan Siddiqui was arrested for violating tenancy law by Islamabad police on Friday and later released on bail yesterday. The picture of Irfan with handcuffing was surfaced on the social media. The social media users harshly criticized this act.
