It is honour for me to visit Karote hydropower project, says PM Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Karote hydropower project on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was honour for him to visit Karote hydropower project.

"The visit of the Chinese president was postponed due to the PTI sit-ins. This mega project of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). In 2015, then PM Nawaz Sharif and the Chinese president had laid the foundation stone of the project," he maintained.

The prime minister said that the project would generate 720 megawatts of electricity. "Charges from the use of water will earn Rs1.2 billion annually. Out of the amount, Rs 120 million will be spent on the development of the area for 30 years," he maintained.

He said that the project would save Rs4 billion. "Pak-China friendship is bigger than Himalaya and sweeter than honey," he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the project would create job opportunities for the loccal people. "The former prime minister had neglected the project, which will be completed soon and the electricity would be added to the national grid," he announced.
