It's impossible to implement judgment of elections on May 14, but it has become history: CJP

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, while hearing the ECP elections review case, remarked that it is impossible to implement the verdict to hold the elections on May 14, but this verdict has become history.

He observed that interference in their work is tantamount to interference in their right.

"The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given October 8 as the date for holding the elections. Later, it was stated that the situation had changed after May 9. The ECP should have capability to ensure the conduct of the elections whatever the circumstances," he ruled.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court merged both cases – Punjab elections review and Review and Judgment – and issued notices to the parties.

The court will hear the cases daily from Tuesday.
