Italian FM thanks Pakistan for support in evacuation from Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio along with a delegation visited the Foreign Ministry on Monday.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi welcomed the Italian counterpart.

He said that the Italian foreign minister's visit the resolve of the governments of Pakistan and Italy to work closely for peace and stability and to advance their level of our bilateral cooperation.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said: "On Afghanistan, I shared with FM Luigi Di Maio the importance of global community staying engaged with the Afghan people and to prioritize their humanitarian needs along with ensuring economic stability. I also shared Pakistan’s clear stance in support of an inclusive political settlement."

He said that all estimates and predictions with regard to Afghanistan proved to be wrong.

The minister said that Italy and Pakistan have a robust relationship, reinforced by 150,000 Pakistani diaspora forming a strong bridge between the two countries. "We agreed to expand our multifaceted cooperation. Pakistan appreciates Italy's support on matters related to GSP Plus and FATF," he maintained.

The Italian foreign minister thanked Pakistan for assistance in evacuation of their citizens from Afghanistan.
