Jam Kamal stand firm against Opp’s attempt to depose Senate chairman
June 30, 2019
QUETTA (92 News) – Balochistan Chief Minister Jaam Kamal on Sunday stood firm against the opposition’s attempt to depose Sadiq Sanjrani as Senate chairman. Speaking to the journalists, the Balochistan chief minister has said that no confidence motion is political right of the opposition but it would be negative impact on the current situation of the country. He mentioned that the nature of decisions in federal and Balochistan are different. He vowed that Balochistan National Party (BNP) will support Sadiq Sanjrani till last extent. Earlier, BNP senators and federal ministers including Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Swati and Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal reached Sadiq Sanjrani’s residence and met him. They assured him of their complete support over issue of removing him from his post during the meeting. On the other hand, after the opposition parties came together in the All Parties Conference (APC) to agree on having the chairman Senate removed from his office, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has put weight behind Sadiq Sanjrani and voiced complete support for him. Constitutionally, in case the opposition decides to bring a no-confidence motion against chairman Senate, it would require the support of at least one-fourth of total membership of Senate (26 out of 104) to have the motion passed. If the motion is passed, a vote would be held to determine the will of the House - whether the senators want to retain the chairman or remove him from office. If majority vote (of the senators present at the time of voting) is cast in favour of the chairman, he retains his seat. If majority vote goes against him, he stands removed from the office. On June 26, the all-parties conference (APC) convened by the opposition has rejected the budget 2019, terming it anti-people. JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman read out the joint declaration issued by the APC. The APC also announced to observe July 25 as black day against the ‘rigged’ elections. It decided to de-seat the Senate chairman through a legal and constitutional method.
