JI chief asks govt to ensure safety of frontline doctors fighting COVID-19

LAHORE (92 News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday asked the government to ensure the safety of frontline doctors and paramedics fighting coronavirus pandemic. Speaking to the journalists, the JI chief termed that the government should exercise responsibility as the number of coronavirus cases continue to increase across Pakistan. “The limited relief package was announced, even no one has received even a single penny till now,” he added. Sirajul Haq also demanded the government to announce waiving off the electricity and gas bills. He demanded the government ensure the safety of frontline doctors and paramedics fighting coronavirus pandemic in the country. He said that frontline doctors and paramedics were not safe, adding that neither they had standardized personal protection equipment (PPE) nor proper training to fight the disease. The JI chief said that the government should devise a national policy in consultation with the health experts and political leadership. He further accused the government of spending a handsome amount of money on the shirts for the Prime Minister’s Corona Relief Force, adding that this money could have been spent on the safety of doctors and paramedics.
