LAHORE (92 News) Fashion icon Jimmy Choo, accompanied by his niece Lucy Choi, recently visited Lahore for a four-day trip aimed at celebrating Pakistani craftsmanship and fostering global connections within the fashion industry.
The visit, held from February 19-22, included meetings with top designers such as Faraz Manan, Kamiar Rokni, Nilofer Shahid, and Rehan Bashir Jalwana, and was organised in collaboration with the Jimmy Choo Academy (JCA).
Choo, known for revolutionising high fashion with his iconic handmade designs, praised the talent and dedication of Pakistani designers, urging them to showcase their work at global platforms such as London, New York, and Shanghai Fashion Weeks. "Pakistani designers’ work is exceptional," he remarked. "It’s important for them to show it to the world."
Choo’s visit highlighted his commitment to the JCA, founded in 2021 to nurture emerging talent by offering design skills and business knowledge. The trip was facilitated by Sarwar Khawaja and his wife Faiza Khan, both from Lahore.
In addition to his engagements with designers, Choo and his team visited a school and orphanage, demonstrating his ongoing dedication to supporting future generations.
The trip has sparked discussions about potential collaborations, including internships for JCA students at local ateliers, and may pave the way for deeper ties between Pakistani fashion and the global industry.
Despite the excitement surrounding his visit, Choo's primary focus remains on mentorship and education, with plans for further initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between education and industry.
As Choo continues to inspire the next generation of designers, his visit to Lahore stands as a testament to the potential for global recognition of Pakistan’s rich fashion heritage.
