Judge Arshad Malik’s removal raised further doubts: Shahid Abbasi
July 13, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the removal of Judge Arshad Malik has raised further doubts. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he said that the involvement of the government in the matter had been proved. “The judge admitted that he sentenced Nawaz Sharif under pressure,” he said. The former PM stated that they had presented the 40-minute video and there was no need to present further proofs. He appealed to the apex court to take notice of the issue. “Credibility of the judicial system should be restored,” he said. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the court verdicts are part of the history which will decide on them. “An army of ministers is defending the issue. We do not want any political objective. We want trust of the people in the judicial system. The government’s connivance in the matter has been exposed,” he maintained.
No one will get justice if Nawaz Sharif fails to get it: Abbasi
On July 12, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had said that no one would get justice if three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif failed to get it. Addressing the workers convention, he said that the PML-N had not come out for the power, but for the victory of the people. “No one could answer about the fact what has happened with our country during 10 months,” he said. The PML-N leader said that the ‘selected’ prime minister had proved that he was incompetent. “The judges are saying that the government got the verdict through blackmailing. The deal was offered to Nawaz Sharif and on his refusal, judges were brought,” he said. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the judge announcing the verdict had withdrawn the allegation, but Nawaz Sharif was still in jail. “It is a test case for the judiciary that Nawaz Sharif is still in jail. The judiciary has to decide to restore the confidence of the people,” he added. The PML-N leader said that today entire country was chanting the slogan of ‘Go Niazi, Go’. “The PML-N is fighting the war for democracy. A country having no public representative cannot make progress,” he said. He said that the system of ‘purchasing’ the judges should be abolished. “There is a contradiction between the statement of the government and the judge,” he said. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that judge should have told much earlier that he was being blackmailed. PML-N leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Imran Khan could not win the hearts of the people by chanting ‘thief, thief’. “We will not let Imran Khan destroy the country.” He said that neither electricity nor ‘roti’ was costly during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif. “Maltreatment was meted out to Shehbaz Sharif despite his illness,” he said.
