Judge video scandal: FIR lodged against Mian Tariq, others

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Cybercrime wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has lodged an first information report (FIR) against arrested main suspect Mian Tariq, others in Judge Arshad Malik’s video scandal. The FIR has been registered against Mian Tariq and others on the complaint of Judge Arshad Malik in the cybercrime wing. In the FIR, it states that the video shown by PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz in a press conference was tampered and electronic forged. It also states that the meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his son Hussain Nawaz Was conducted by blackmailer. In the FIR, the petitioner adopted a stance that Mian Tariq gave him drug mixed food and recorded an immoral video which was sold to PML-N leader before some month. The PML-N leader blackmailed him on behalf of video. He also mentioned that Maryam Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi surfaced tempered video. He requested to take action against all the people who involved in the conspiracy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyGbCXf20OY A day earlier, Civil judge Shahista Khan Kundi handed main suspect Tariq Mehmood – who made video of Accountability Court judge Arshad Malik – over to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on two day physical remand. According to the reports, the FIA arrested main suspect of video scandal. The FIA sources informed that Mian Tariq was caught by the authority’s cybercrime wing. The video was traced from Mian Tariq’s house and forensics of the controversial video was already carried out. Suspect Mian Tariq was trying to flee to Dubai but the FIA caught him. On July 12, the Law Ministry has stopped Judge Arshad Malik from working on the orders of the Lahore High Court. the IHC acting chief justice sent a letter to Law Ministry for taking back the services of Arshad Malik as accountability court judge. Judge Arshad Malik wrote a letter to the IHC, in which, he rejected all the accusations leveled against him in the alleged video. The respectable judge also submitted his reply, affidavit, press release and other documents. The IHC spokesman said that the chief justice is reviewing the letter for further actions. A day earlier, Arshad Malik called on Islamabad High Court (IHC) acting chief justice Amir Farooq. This was the second meeting of the judge with IHC CJ ever since PML-N leadership produced an alleged video of him during a press conference. Justice Farooq had met with the Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa. Meanwhile, Supreme Court was also moved to launch an inquiry into the video scandal that broke during a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) news conference on July 6. A constitutional petition, submitted by Ishtiaq Ahmed Mirza through his lawyer Chaudhry Munir Sadiq at the top court, named the federal government, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N leader Maryam Safdar, senior PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Nasir Butt and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) as respondents. It requested the court to initiate a contempt of court proceedings against all the entities involved in the scandal. On July 7, a video footage shown by Maryam Nawaz at a press conference was baseless and contrary to facts, said Accountability Court judge Arshad Malik.

Rejecting the allegations leveled by the PML-N leaders, the judge clarified in an official statement that the video shown to media is fake.

A press release while quoting Arshad Malik further said the conversation presented to media in video, was totally wrong and out of context.
