December 19, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik reserved judgment in the Flagship Investment and Al-Azizia Steel Mills references on Wednesday. The court dismissed Nawaz Sharif’s plea to extend the trial for a week to present more documents. The court has announced to announce the verdict on December 24. As many as 22 witnesses recorded their statements in the Al-Azizia and 16 witnesses deposed in the Flagship reference. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif did not defend in both references. He contended that he is not related to the business. “The business is in the name of his children who are adult and independent,” he stated. The NAB contended that Nawaz Sharif is the real owner of the business. “Huge amounts were transferred from children’s companies to Nawaz Sharif,” it stated. The NAB prayed to court to sentence Nawaz Sharif under section 9A(5) for making assets beyond income. Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz are co-accused in the case and have been declared absconders in the case.
