October 9, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) has applied formally to seek permission from the Islamabad administration to hold its “Azadi March” at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 27 on Wednesday. JUI-F leadr Maulana Abdul Ghafoor submitted an application with the chief commissioner for carrying out anti-government protest campaign ‘Azadi March’. The JUI-F leader, through his counsel Kamran Murtaza, submitted an application to Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmad, asking for approval to hold the march as well as security arrangements for participants. In the application, the JUI-F has stated that the party owns the democratic and constitutional right of holding protests. “The JUI-F will be holding the Azadi March on October 27, 2019 at D-Chowk, Islamabad, exercising its democratic and Constitutional right under Articles 16 and 17 of the Constitution against the incumbent government,” reads the application. A day earlier, the leaders of the opposition parties attending the Rahbar Committee meeting finally agreed on four points including resignation from Prime Minister Imran Khan. After the Rehbar Committee meeting, the opposition alliance has agreed on four points. They have agreed on end of this government, resignation of PM, new elections and free and fair election without intervention by security forces. The joint opposition agreed to participate in the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s ‘Azadi March’ on these four points. It is pertinent to mention here that the opposition parties also expressed unanimity to participate in the ‘Azadi March’ but fell short of taking decision to join the JUI-F at the sit-in in the federal capital.
