July 5 is black day in country’s history, says PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari

KARACHI (92 News) – July 5 is a black day for democratic history of the country when a dictator overthrew an elected government, trampled the Constitution and put the country on path to destruction. In his message on July 5, he said that unelected people derailed democracy and used religion for their ulterior objectives. “After the Zia rule, democratic forces restored the constitution to its original shape. However, extremist thought, so-called Jihad by non-state actors and sectarian war are the remnants of dictators that are a threat to the country and the nation,” he said. Asif Zardari said: “Today we have to reiterate our resolve to make Pakistan a democratic and moderate society where there will be no room for extremism, militancy and sectarianism. We have also to resolve that we will award severe punishment to dictators and usurpers of the rights of the people.” He paid glowing tributes to the people who sacrificed their lives for democracy.
