Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal will also be considered for new NAB chairman: Farogh Naseem

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem has said that the name of Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal will also be considered for the slot of the new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he said that matters pertaining to tax and business are being separated from the NAB.

"The role of the prosecutor general is being increased. The power of the accused's bail is being grated to High Court," he added.

He said that judges will be appointed to the accountability courts in consultation with the chief justice of the Lahore High Court.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had been granted the right to arrest the accused. "The government will introduce the Act after the NAB Amendment Ordinance," he added.

Fawad Chaudhary said that Shehbaz Sharif would never hold consultation with Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif. "However, the opposition, not Shehbaz Sharif, will be consulted," he added.

He advised the opposition parties to change their leader. "Some people want the government should appoint a police officer after consulting thieves," he added.
