Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar refuses to become SC’s ad hoc judge for personal reasons

KARACHI (92 News) - Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar on Thursday refused to assume duties as ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court, citing personal reasons.

Talking to 92 News, he said that Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s step to appoint ad hoc judges was according to the law and constitution and there was no constitutional hurdle in it.

He said that the chief justice had taken the step in good faith. “The chief justice wants to appoint ad hoc judges to reduce burden of cases,” he added.

Earlier, Justice (retd) Mashir Alam had also refused to become the ad hoc judge. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa had proposed four names for appointment of ad hoc judges.
