Karachi Mayor says won’t run away, appeals for bail

KARACHI (92 News) – Jailed Karachi Mayor and Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader (MQM) Waseem Akhtar has on Thursday said that he is being victimized, he should be granted bail as he would not run away. The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) heard May 12 case. During the hearing, he pleaded to the court for granting bail. “I am elected Mayor of the city. Grant me bail. I will not escape.” Waseem Akhtar said that false cases are being lodged against him. The court asked jailed Karachi Mayor about where he was during the incident on May 12? On which he said that he was an advisor of the chief minister and was present at the Governor House. The court directed the police to submit challan in the case and adjourned the hearing till October 18.
