KARACHI (92 News) - The Karachi police shot and injured two citizens on Napier Road, adjacent to II Chundrigar Road, on Friday. According to the details garnered, the police opened firing on two common citizen, resulting one dead and other was injured. The police claim the men were robbers and they opened fire on them considering them accused. The police officials shifted the injured persons in hospital and fled from the scene. However, the dead identified as Aslam while wounded identified as Waqar. According to the eyewitnesses, they were not thieves. Aslam and Waqar were friends and were joking with each other before being shot. Eye-witnesses said the victims had raised their hands after seeing the cops, but the policemen still shot them without giving warning. The victims were traveling on a bike when the police stopped them. Aslam dead on the spot and Waqar injured due to the fire. Police found no weapons and evidence of any crime, on which the police taken them to Civil Hospital and fled from there. After a firing incident, a citizen recorded video footage of all the scene through his mobile phone. In the video, the police personnel can be seen carrying weapons. The footage also shows a frightened citizen standing with his hands up. After airing the news, police arrested Imran Habib, Imran and Sarfraz which were deployed on police mobiles. Weapons used by the personnel were also seized. Many precious innocent lives have been turned into deaths by police firing in the past. There were six major incidents of police negligence in just 2018 and 2019. On January 3, 2018, a young man named Intezar Ahmed was shot dead by ACLC personnel. Just seven days after the incident, on January 20, Maqsood was shot dead by police when he was travelling in a rickshaw on Faisal Street. On August 3, 10-year-old Amal Umar, who was sitting in a car with her parents, was shot dead by police near Akhtar Colony. The dust of these two incidents had not yet settled. On February 23, 2019, Nimra Baig, a medical student, was shot dead by the police in North Karachi. On April 6, 2019, Sajjad - 10-year-old - was shot dead by police in Quaidabad. Exactly ten days later, on April 16, 2019, a few months old Ahsan Sheikh was killed by police firing near Safora Chowrangi.
