Karachi faces acute water shortage
July 11, 2016
KARACHI (92 News) – Karachi suffered a massive water shortage yet again as a water pipeline burst near Dhabeji pumping station due to power breakdown affecting water supply. The Karachi Water Board and K-Electric are accusing each others. The KWSB official said that the pipeline burst due to back pressure caused by electricity breakdown while hundreds of thousands gallons water spread in the nearby fields. The KWSB officials have started repair work and water supply to the city was resumed through alternate means, it could take up to 48 hours for the repair work to be completed at Dhabeji. In light of the present situation authorities have advised consumers to observe caution and use water carefully. On the other hand, K-Electric spokesman said that the KWSB is hiding its own incompetence.
