KARACHI (92 News) – The Karachi Tajar Ittehad has announced the boycott of traders selling masks at high rates. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Attique Mir urged the traders to hold such elements accountable. “Such anti-state elements do the same thing on the arrival of Ramazanul Mubarik,” he said. On the other hand, medical experts are of the view that a healthy man does not need to wear the mask. “Only affected person should wear the mask,” he said. Owing to fears of the spread of coronavirus, profiteers have increased the prices of surgical masks manifold. In all big cities, including Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore, masks have become a rare item. The price of a packet, which was hardly available for Rs200, has reached Rs1,600. The wholesale traders have stopped the supply, causing an artificial shortage of masks in the market. Citizens have appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the situation. On the other hand, an application has been filed in the Lahore High Court against the increase in the mask prices.
