KARACHI (92 News) – Director General Rangers Sindh Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar has said that political and religious parties, district government, feudal lords and construction companies are the beneficiaries of the black money amounting to Rs 230 billion collected through sacrificial animals’ hides, donations and Zakat, etc. Briefing the Sindh Apex Committee on Thursday, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar said that political parties are sponsoring terrorists. He said millions of rupees are collected through sacrificial animals’ hides that are then used to buy guns for terrorists backed by different parties. “The money collected in the name of Zakat and Fitrana is also used to support terrorism,” the DG Rangers said. Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar said extortion money collected from shopkeepers, schools and even from graveyards is also used for terrorism. “Land grabbing is another source to collect black money,” he said. "Some powerful politicians are also trafficking Iranian diesel, sponsoring squatters and sheltering the water-tanker mafia." The DG Rangers said during its previous regimes, the same political party also introduced a system of appointing ghost employees in different departments. “The black money is collected from illegal banquets, parking lots, drug trafficking, match-fixing, money laundering and cyber crime, adding to the woes of Karachiites. “International funding to ‘madrassas’ and beggar mafia are also a source of black money used by terrorists.” Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar said that the collected black money is distributed among several powerful politicians and Lyari gang war criminals, which is used to support gangs and buy illegal weapons.
