Kashmir issue is a flashpoint in region, says DG ISPR
March 6, 2019
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the Kashmir issue is a flashpoint in the region. In an interview with CNN, he said that Pakistan had highlighted the Kashmir issue and Indian state atrocities at the international media. “The Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the resolutions of the United Nations,” he said. He said that Pak-India tension had reduced, but the danger is not over yet. “India should bring its house in order instead of leveling allegations against others,” he added. The DG ISPR asked India to find out a solution to its problems instead of making accusations. “Now the ball is in the court of India. It should decide on whether to increase tension or reduce it,” he observed. He said that India will have to face the reaction if it will use the pellet gun and rape to suppress the Kashmir issue. “I am not saying this. But a UNHCR report has mentioned these atrocities,” he said. DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor was of the view that tension is not better for peace in the region. “Pakistan displayed goodwill gesture by releasing the Indian pilot. Now India should positively respond for regional peace,” he said. He said that India should tell whether it wants peace in the region or want to continue the agenda of instability.
Took action under NAP not anyone’s pressure: DG ISPR
A day earlier, in an interview with private TV channel, Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor on Tuesday said that “This is time to be united and all the political parties agreed over National Action Plan (NAP),” he said. He also mentioned that the crackdown against the terrorism in the country will be taken for interests of the public. He also elaborated that the actions have not been taken under any pressure. “NAP is being implemented since 2014 when there was neither FATF nor Pulwama incident,” he notified. “Decision to ban Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Falah-e-Insaniat was made in January, he added. The DG ISPR termed that Pakistan armed forces are fully capable to respond to any sort of Indian aggression, adding that India continues to violate ceasefire on Line of Control. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor also stressed that Pakistan want peace in the region. “Escalation increased between Pakistan and India from 26-28 February. India violated our airspace on February 26. The Indian pilot was captured and later released,” said DG ISPR. He told that Prime Minister Imran Khan offered probe into Pulwama attack but no contact could be made on hotline between Pakistan and India. “A dossier has been received by India and investigation is underway over it. It is being reviewed by the relevant ministry. Action will be taken if anyone found responsible,” DG ISPR declared.
