NEW YORK (92 News) – First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy has said that the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the UN Charter, relevant UN resolutions and bilateral agreements between India and Pakistan. In a tweet on Friday, he said that Russia continues to consistently promote normalization of India-Pakistan ties. “We hope that existing divergences around Kasmir will be settled bilaterally by political and diplomatic means only on the basis of Simla Agreement of 1972 and Lahore declaration of 1999, in accordance with the UN Charter, relevant UN resolutions and bilateral agreements between India and Pakistan,” he said. He said that they are friends and good partners with both India and Pakistan and both peoples. “We have no hidden agendas. So we will open-heartedly continue to engage with Islamabad and New Delhi in order to help both of them come to terms and have good neighbourly relations,” he said. After the UNSC meeting, the Chinese Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council has declared that the status of Occupied Kashmir is controversial at the international level, saying that Indian unilateral acts are not right. He said that China has serious concerns about the situation in Kashmir. “India also challenged the security of China.” He said that India should refrain from taking a step escalating tensions.
