SRINAGAR (92 News) – Complete shutdown is being observed on Tuesday on the martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader Muhammad Afzal Guru in Indian-held Kashmir.

Call for the strike was given by the Chairman All Parties Hurriyet Conference-Gilani Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Life remained paralyzed across Kashmir valley due to a shutdown called on the third death anniversary of Afzal Guru and restrictions imposed by the authorities in parts of Srinagar city to thwart protests.

All shops and other business establishments remained closed in Srinagar and other parts of the valley while public transport remained off the roads.

Attendance in government offices, banks and other offices also remained thin, while curfew-like restrictions have been clamped in different areas.

Muhammad Afzal Guru was hanged on the February, 9 2013 in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in a fake case of attack on Indian parliament.
