SRINAGAR (92 News) – The 86th Kashmir Martyrs Day is being observed on both sides of the Line of Control on Wednesday. The day is being observed to commemorate the martyrdom of those Kashmiris who sacrificed their lives in front of Srinagar Central Jail on July 13, 1931 for the cause of freedom from Dogra Rule. Officially ‘Martyrs’ Day’ is observed as a holiday to remember the martyrs of 1931. Public meetings will also be held in all major cities of Azad Kashmir to mark the day. Clamping down on the Hurriyet leadership, Government arrested ailing Hurriyet Conference chairperson Syed Ali Geelani. On the eve of Martyrs Day, Geelani had called for Naqushbandh Sahib in Old Srinagar.
