Kh Asif demands formation of commission to probe Hussain Haqqani’s claims

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has on Wednesday demanded formation of a parliamentary commission to probe into the statement made by former Pakistani Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani during the regime of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Reacting to the statement of former Pakistani Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Khawaja Asif said that it is a matter of breach of national security at highest level and it should be investigated threadbare. He said: “After the recent publication of the article of Hussain Haqqani, Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah called him a traitor.” Asif said that he will give a detailed statement in this regard in the House on Monday. The minister said that the PPP leadership has never disowned Hussain Haqqani before this. On the other hand, Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah alleged that the government wants to weaken the federation. Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah while supporting the idea, said a joint commission should be constituted to probe the matter. He said in addition issues relating to Memogate Scandal and Dawn Leaks should also been investigated.
