Khan raises question over AG’s right defend PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has on Thursday said that how can an Attorney General have the right to defend a corrupt Prime Minister and his family in Panama leaks case. Talking to media outside Supreme Court, he said: “Who permitted the AG to contend case of a ‘corrupt family’.” He criticized Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s children Maryam Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz for not submitting their replies in the court saying that they are still time for submitting their reply. He expected a Supreme Court corruption investigation to topple the prime minister and repeated his calls for Sharif to resign immediately. He maintained that the premier has lost moral authority to remain in office. Khan said that he is being accused of upset the nation but said that the investigation into the corruption will reveal who upset the nation. The court on Tuesday (Nov 1) agreed to Khan's request to set up a judicial commission to probe Mr Khan's corruption allegations against Sharif, stemming from revelations that his children owned offshore companies in the tax haven of the British Virgin Islands. Khan then backed down on his threat to paralyze Islamabad by bringing in a million protesters, defusing tensions after days of clashes between his supporters and the police. The PTI chairman’s challenge stems from documents leaked from the Panama-based Mossack Fonseca law firm that appeared to show that Sharif's daughter and two sons owned offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands. Sharif's family denies wrongdoing, and there was no mention of Mr Sharif himself owning any offshore companies.
