Khawaja Asif calls for stopping SC interference in parliament

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday called for stopping the interference of the Supreme Court in the parliament.

Expressing his views in the National Assembly, he said that two constitutional institutions have come against each other. "The constitution is the creation of the parliament. We will neither violate the constitution nor will allow anyone to violate it. Look what has been happening with the constitution," he added.

The minister said that the judges put their thumb impressions whenever the constitution was violated. "Lacs of cases are pending. The judiciary should first of all deal with the cases and later it should scuffle with the parliament," he maintained.

PPP leader Naveed Qamar said that only the parliament has power to formulate the constitution. "If another adds a single word to the constitution, it will be the violation of the constitution," he added.
