ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested PML-N leader Khawaja Asif because he could not give the money trail of his assets.

Addressing a press conference along with Usman Dar on Saturday, he said that Khawaja Asif had been doing a job during his tenure as defence minister. "When Khawaja Asif was asked to give the proof of his Rs 2.2 million, he says the company used to give him the cash," he added.

Shahzad Akbar said that Khawaja Asif had laundered money through the misuse of his passport. "The NAB had arrested Khawaja Asif after justified investigations," he said.

He said that there are 48 accounts in the name of family of Khawaja Asif. "Which type of business he has which is done in the form of cash?" he queried.

Usman Dar said that Khawaja Asif was being ranked among the richest personalities of Sialkot. "He has no business and he is unable to present anything in his defence. These people were involved in plunder and were responsible for economic bankruptcy of the country," he concluded.
