Kh Asif, Saad Rafiq strongly react to opposition leaders’ statements

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq on Thursday strongly reacted to the statements of opposition leaders. Talking to the media on Thursday, Khawaja Asif said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had voluntarily presented himself for accountability by writing a letter to the Supreme Court for formation of the Judicial Commission to probe the allegations regarding the Panama Papers. He said that PTI and others had moved the apex court for the investigation into Panama Leaks and today the court issued notices and the government welcomes the move. The minister said that Nawaz Sharif was ready to appear before any forum, including the Supreme Court, the Parliament, the Election Commission, and people's court. He also demanded PTI chairman Imran Khan to give details of the misappropriation of the donations collected for Shaukat Khanum Hospital and flood affected people. Meanwhile, Khawaja Saad Rafiq said there is no justification for Imran Khan to lock down Islamabad after initiation of the court's proceedings into Panama allegations. The minister said that the opposition parties were only trying to target the premier. Earlier, a three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Awami Muslim (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid, Barrister Zafar­ullah Khan of Watan Party and Advocate Asad. The court issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Captain (retd) Safdar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the attorney general in the Panama Papers case. The case has been adjourned for two weeks.
