Khawaja Brothers’ judicial remand extended for eight days

LAHORE (92 News) – An accountability court on Thursday extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique for eight days. Justice Jawadul Hasan heard the Paragon Housing case and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced Khawaja Brothers’ before an accountability court. The NAB official sought another extension in the judicial remand of Khawaja brothers. Khawaja Saad Rafiq adopted a stance in the court and complained about the police’s misconduct. “We have always cooperated with the administration but the media is not being allowed to speak with me,” he said. He also maintained that no one was treated in same way during the dictatorship. The court granted eight days judicial remand to Khwaja till November 29. The court also summoned further witnesses in the next hearing. Meanwhile, the corruption watchdog body submitted record of approver Qaiser Amin Butt’s statement to court and Qaiser Amin Butt also recorded his statement to the judicial magistrate.

Paragon Housing Scam

One Qaiser Amin Butt, the main accused in the Paragon Housing scam, voluntarily disclosed the facts related to the commission of offence and requested for pardon under Section 26 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999 (NAO 1999), which was granted by the competent authority. The NAB filed reference against Kh Saad Rafique, Kh Salman Rafique, Nadeem Zia Pirzada, his son Umer Zia and Farhan Ali. NAB stated in the reference that Saad Rafique, in connivance with his wife Ghazala Saad Rafique, brother Salman Rafique, Qaiser Amin Butt and Nadeem Zia, started a housing project namely Air Avenue, which was an illegal housing society.
