Khursheed Shah hospitalised due to high blood pressure

KARACHI (92 News) – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah was admitted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Sukkur after deteriorating health conditions and high blood pressure on Sunday. The officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) shifted the PPP leader to the medical facility after he complained of chest pain. The medical team will run tests including checking the Troponin I levels in his bloodstream. Troponin I is a marker of cardiac injury. Shah is expected to undergo an angiography at NICVD Sukkur later on Sunday. The procedure uses X-ray imaging to see the heart’s blood vessels to determine if there’s a restriction in blood flow going to the heart. Shah has been in NAB custody since September 18 when he was arrested from Islamabad in a case pertaining to alleged assets beyond means of income. He was then moved to Sukkur. Earlier, Khursheed Shah, who was arrested a day earlier by the anti-graft watchdog, had pain in his abdomen after which he was rushed to hospital where he undergoes a medical examination. The former opposition leader said that he was having difficulty in breathing, while his heartbeat rate was also recorded higher than normal. His sugar level and blood pressure were recorded abnormal. Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided the house of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah in Bani Gala and seized important documents. The anti-graft watchdog the PPP leader is accused of allotting to himself an amnesty plot illegally from a cooperative society in Sukkur.
