KARACHI (92 News) – Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) former director-general (DG) parks Liaquat Qaimkhani may have succeeded to dodge the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as teams leaves empty-handed after breaking into Qaimkhani’s safe. According to the sources, the second locker at the accused’s house turned out empty, while the locker was opened after a seven-hour effort with the help of a cameraman. The team used drills to break into the safe but found that it was empty. The sources claim that the family of the former DG parks family seized the valuables in the locker, when the opportunity arose. It also added that the family transferred the contents of the lock to another location prior to NAB’s raid. A day earlier, the NAB second time raided the house of former KMC DG Liaquat Qaimkhani in Karachi. During the raid, the anti-graft watchdog body team searched various rooms of the house and took several important documents in their custody. The raid follows after the initial interrogation from Qaimkhani by the NAB, sources said and added that another locker, which was recovered in last raid, will be opened with the help of his brother. The former DG parks is currently in NAB’s custody for 14 days in a fake bank accounts case. During the proceedings headed by judge Mohammad Bashir, the anti-corruption watchdog has requested to extend physical remand of Qaimkhani for further interrogation. Earlier on September 19, the NAB had recovered a huge cache of wealth, including costly and luxury vehicles, bonds, documents of properties, diamond and gold ornaments, from the palace-like house of Liaquat Ali Qaimkhani, Adviser to Karachi Mayor on Parks.
