KP minister once again gives deadline to complete BRT Peshawar project

PESHAWAR (92 News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai has once again gave deadline to complete Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Peshawar project on Wednesday. Speaking to the journalists in Peshawar, Shaukat Yousafzai said that BRT Peshawar project will be completed by the end of March this year. “The work has been entered in the last phase,” he added. The information minister mentioned that the civil work of the BRT Peshawar project has been completed and it will be completed by the end of March this year. “If the work does not complete till the deadline then the contractor will be fined 0.5 billion rupees. He rejected the propaganda regarding the cost of the BRT Peshawar, he said the total cost of BRT Peshawar project is Rs34 billion. He challenged the critics to expose corruption in the mega project. Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has hinted at further delay in the completion of the bus rapid transit (BRT) project. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, KP Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai said that citizens would be able to travel by BRT buses in the city. “It was decided in the beginning that there will be no subsidy on the project,” he said. The minister said that the project was approved on March 28, 2017. “The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) had approved Rs49.43 billion for the project in July 2017. After a change, the Rs 66.43 billion cost was approved in November 2018,” he said. He said that 87 percent work had been completed through 85 percent amount.
