KPK Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed unveils Rs505 billion budget

PESHAWAR (92 News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed presented the Rs505 billion budget for the FY2016-17 on Tuesday. Unveiling the budget, he said that the government had allocated Rs one billion for the social welfare of women, while Rs 32.94 billion and Rs 3.42 billion have been allocated for the police and irrigation respectively. He said that Rs 3.20 billion had been allocated for communications. “A sum of Rs 12 billion has been earmarked for primary and secondary education, while Rs 38 billion has been reserved for the education sector.” The minister said that steps were being taken to empower the women. The opposition raised uproar during the budget session and chanted slogans of ‘Thief, thief’ and ‘Shame, shame’.
