Kulbhushan Death Sentence: New Delhi plans to curb visas for Pakistanis

NEW DELHI (92 News) – Following the death sentence of Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) spy Kulbhushan Yadav, the New Delhi is planning to curb visas for Pakistani citizens visiting India.

According to Indian media reports, New Delhi is quietly moving ahead with curbs on visas for Pakistani nationals visiting India, with artists, singers and actors likely to be the first group to be singled out for maximum visibility and impact.

The report of the first move comes after Pakistan handed over a death sentence to Indian businessman Kulbhushan Yadav on charges of carrying out espionage and spy operations in Pakistan.

The Indian government is also mulling the idea of placing a blanket ban on visas as well. However, this would be hard to implement.

The nuclear-armed rivals have not been issuing diplomatic visas over the last six months.

Earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa made it clear that “no compromise’ shall be made on such “anti-state acts”.

Even Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, citing the Kulbhushan Jadhav verdict, cleared that “no pressure will be taken on the issue”.

The death sentence to Yadav was confirmed by COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa after the Field General Court Martial found him guilty of "espionage and sabotage activities" in Pakistan.
