Kulbhushan's lawyer appointment: two senior lawyers apologize for judicial assistance
October 7, 2020

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The deadline for the appointment of legal representative for its Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav has ended today as two senior lawyers apologize for judicial assistance.

According to details, the deadline that was given by Islamabad High Court (IHC) to Indian government for the appointment of legal representative for its spy ended today but India has not allotted any lawyer to Jadhav so far.

Senior lawyers Makhdoom Ali Khan and Abid Hassan Manto have submitted their replies in the court.

A larger bench headed by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case today.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) again gave Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav the deadline to hire the services of a counsel till October 6. The court also directed the authorities to offer the third consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav. Later, the case was adjourned till October 6.

Talking to the media outside court, Attorney General Khalid Javed Khan said that they had informed India and Kulbhushan Jadhav about the court orders through the Foreign Office. But India did not give a reply even after one month. India has only one option of facing the case in Pakistan, he said.

He said that there is no justification in moving the International Court of Justice. We have implemented the ICJ verdict. India appointed Barrister Shah Nawaz, but he had neither the power of attorney nor the authority letter, he added.

On July 17, 2019, the ICJ had rejected remedies sought by India, including annulment of military court decision convicting Kulbhushan Jadhav, his release and safe passage to India.
