LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday has told that Lahore is the worst-hit Punjab’s city by the coronavirus pandemic with 1384 cases. While addressing a press conference, the minister confirmed that 95 people have lost their lives with this pandemic. She said that seven laboratories of level-3 have been made functional in Punjab to conduct tests for coronavirus. Dr Yasmin maintained that the provincial government will be able to carry out 4,000 to 5,000 coronavirus tests on daily basis. “Efforts are being made to further enhance the test capacity across the province,” she added. It is worth mentioning here that 5,640 coronavirus cases have been reported in Punjab, 95 people have lost their lives while 1,306 have been sent back to their houses after recovering from the pandemic. On the other hand, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases across the country jumped to 14,079. According to the National Command and Operation Center, there are 5,640 cases in Punjab, 4,956 in Sindh, 1,984 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 853 in Balochistan, 320 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 261 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 65 in Azad Kashmir. As many as 3,233 patients have so far recovered while the death toll from the virus stands at 301 with 16 new deaths and 751 new cases reported during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, 157,223 tests have been conducted since the outbreak of the pandemic, with 6,417 conducted during the last 24 hours. Local transmission is 79 per cent and foreign travel 21 per cent.
