Lahore submerged due to heavy spell of monsoon

LAHORE (92 News) - Lahore was submerged due to heavy intermittent spell of monsoon on Friday. The rainfall started at 5:30am and continued till midday, battering multiple areas of the city. Due to torrential rains, streets turned into ponds as well as the roof of the Assembly Secretariat also started dripping. Following the rain, main roads in neighbourhoods such as Walton, Shadbagh, Gulberg, Lakshmi Chowk, Garhi Shahu and Mughalpura were inundated with rainwater. Heavy rain in Lahore left the city's Nabha Road near Customs House flooded with at least four feet of water. Motorbikes and cars parked on the roads were seen floating in the water. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar visited different areas of Lahore. During his visit, he said that water will be drained in a few hours, no negligence will be tolerated in drainage. He reviewed the after rain situation of the provincial capital  and also inspected the underground water storage tank on Lawrence Road. According to the Met Department, more than 146mm of rain was recorded in interior parts of the city while Lakshmi Chowk and Farukhabad recorded 148mm and 132mm rain respectively. More rain has been predicted in Punjab and KP for the next three days.
