Law-enforcement agencies detain former petroleum minister Dr Asim in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – The former federal minister for petroleum and Sindh Higher Education Commission chairman Dr Asim Hussain is taken into custody on Wednesday in Karachi. As per details, Dr Asim, who is considered as a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari, was facing several cases of corruption filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Dr Asim is owner of a university in Karachi. Dr Asim Hussain was out of the country and had just recently arrived in Karachi and met with chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad. Dr Asim has been accused of corruption in LNG and LPG while he openly issued licenses for CNG stations. He is also accused of money laundering and land grabbing. Former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza had also accused Dr Asim Hussain of corruption.
