LHC extends Hamza Shehbaz’s interim bail till June 11

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the interim bail of Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz till June 11. During the hearing, Azam Nazir Tarar, counsel for Hamza Shehbaz, had prayed to court to postpone the hearing. “It has been tradition of the LHC to postpone the case during official holidays,” he said. The court asked Hamza Shehbaz to join the investigation like a common man. It remarked that slogans are being chanted daily and High Court has been made Mochi Gate. The court also expressed anger when the NAB prosecutor mentioned wrong reference number of the Saaf Pani case. The counsel said that they considered themselves below the common man. “Today everyone is getting bail.”
LHC bench recuses from hearing bail plea as Hamza expresses mistrust
On May 28, a two-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) recused itself from hearing the bail plea of Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hama Shehbaz expressed his mistrust about the bench. He prayed to the court to transfer the case to another bench. At this, the bench recused itself from hearing the plea. Addressing a press conference after the hearing, Hamza Shehbaz alleged that the NAB chairman had talked about changing the bench and said he (Hamza) could not evade arrest now. He said that he used to sit outside the NAB during 10-year period of Pervez Musharraf. “I alone buried my grandfather and faced all difficulties,” he said. Hamza Shehbaz said that after 20 years, Allah Almighty blessed him with a daughter who was in the ICU for the three days. “Doctors asked me to stay, but I returned to the country a day before the expiry of his bail,” he said.

On May 22, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had extended the interim bail of PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz till May 28. Talking to the media after the hearing, Hamza Shehbaz advised the NAB to form a political party and forge an alliance with the PTI. “The entire political system has frozen. We cannot be intimidated by accountability.” Hamza Shehbaz said that the opposition parties have united and their agenda is economy of the country. “The incompetent PM says everything will be okay. Nothing will improve here. It is the government of liars,” he maintained. The PML-N leader said that the exports have decreased, while medicine rates have increased by 400 percent. Earlier on May 8, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the interim bail of PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz till May 22. A two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi heard the bail plea. Hamza Shehbaz’s counsel said that the court had ordered the NAB to present reasons of his client’s arrest. “The documents have not been presented despite the court orders,” he said.
